Eddie Amador - House music

Eddie Amador is an American house music record producer and remixer. He is also the founder of the Mochico and MochicoPrimo record labels.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Amador studied mechanical engineering at Arizona State University while moonlighting as a hip hop DJ. In 1996, he earned a bachelor's degree and relocated to Los Angeles. There he took a day job in engineering while devoting evenings to practicing the craft of writing and producing house music. After a year of labor, Amador released House Music—his first single—in 1998. The single's enormous success garnered Amador a recording contract with Yoshitoshi Records.

Eddie Amador established his own record label, Mochico, in 2001. Two years later, he moved to Amsterdam, where he signed a new recording contract with ID&T in 2005. While living in Amsterdam, Amador also teamed with Belgian producer Tom de Neef, and the duo released a handful of singles and remixes under the alias Bazement Freakz. Eddie Amador continues to oversee releases on his MochicoPrimo label.

Delerium - Silence

Delerium is a band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, formed in 1987, originally as a side project of the influential industrial music act, Front Line Assembly. Throughout the band’s history, their musical style has encompassed a broad range, including dark ethereal ambient, voiceless industrial soundscapes, and electronic pop music.

Of Delerium's albums, Karma has garnered the most commercial success. Most listeners only know of Delerium from their work produced on the Nettwerk label, as they were relatively unknown in the pop-music scene before the release of Semantic Spaces.

Delerium's commercial success has hinged largely on the single entitled "Silence", which featured vocals by Sarah McLachlan. In 2000, three years after the original release of source album Karma, a number of remixes of "Silence", produced by DJ Tiësto, Airscape, Fade and others, proliferated throughout dance clubs; the interest generated took the single to #3 on the UK charts and gained considerable radio airplay for the song. The Airscape Remix was featured in Dance Dance Revolution: EXTREME2.

Cosmic Gate is a German trance duo made up of Claus Terhoeven (born 1972, aka Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (born 1967, aka DJ Bossi).

Formed in 1999, Cosmic Gate's first single was "The Drums", followed by "Mental Atmosphere" and their "Somewhere over the Rainbow" remix using samples from the widely popular film, "The Wizard of Oz." However, Cosmic Gate did not become well known until their single "Fire Wire" was released in the UK in 2001.

Cosmic Gate have made many remixes for artists such as DJ Tiësto (Urban Train), Ferry Corsten (Punk), Blank & Jones (DFF), Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Somwere Over The Rainbow), Svenson & Gielen(Answer the Question) and Vanessa-Mae (White Bird).

Roberto Louis Rivera, better known as Robbie Rivera, is a prolific house music producer and DJ born in Puerto Rico. He has an extensive catalog of original productions and remixes to his credit, ranging from Tribal to Progressive House, as well as incorporating Garage and Latin elements.

Rivera grew in Puerto Rico, he was a fan of Freestyle and Eurobeat when he bought two turntables to test himself in becoming a deejay. He has learned the hard way and teaching himself how to deejay like the now successful deejay Dave Dresden who recently split-up from his band Gabriel & Dresden. Rivera used to play at weddings and school party gigs in which common deejays start off with, but it was his natural talent that he used while working with the crowds that kept him playing in big clubs at age of 16. After graduation and high school, Robbie went to the Art Institute at Fort Lauderdale to study music production and was introduced to many different digital audio tools including the popular Protools program. While in college he released hi first record, "Sorulla"; A track influenced by the Latin House. The track became popular in New York and Miami and his career was underway.

Petra Marklund (born 12 September 1984 in Stockholm), better known by her stage name September, is a Swedish dance singer.

Marklund started recording music in studios at the age of 12. When she was 17, she sang in a rock band and gained a record deal. The songs were written and produced by Jonas von der Burg, Niclas von der Burg and Anoo Bhagavan.

September's first single from Dancing Shoes, "Can't Get Over" was released on American iTunes the week of 27 November 2007. In the Netherlands, the first single from Dancing Shoes was "Cry for You". This single peaked at number 4 in the Dutch top 40. September released "Can't Get Over" as her second single in the Netherlands where it peaked at number 35 on the singles chart. Her third single to be released in the Netherlands is "Until I Die" which has so far only peaked at number 91.

Lasgo is a trio of dance music musicians from Belgium. The group formed in 2000.

The group has sold more than 5 million copies of their albums Some Things and Far Away, and the singles from those albums.

Lasgo's first appearance was on the Holiday Party, one of the biggest out parties in Belgium. The Music Factory recorded the show to produce a video clip. In October, Lasgo also won the best national single award on the Belgian TMF Awards 2001. At the same time, it went gold in the charts with 25000 copies sold.

"Lying" is the fourth single and last released from their second album, Far Away. It was never released in the UK. It was a mediocre success, reaching the top 20 in Belgium, but did not chart in any other territories.

Zombie Nation is a German techno and electro project of the Munich based DJ and producer Florian Senfter (a.k.a. Splank!).

The first Zombie Nation Record contained the song "Kernkraft 400", German for "Atomic Energy 400" , which is considered one of the most famous songs of electronic dance music. The song featured one of David Whittaker's small songs from the 1984 Commodore 64 game Lazy Jones called "Stardust". Soon after the first independent release in 1999 the song developed into an underground hit in European clubs, and was licensed to various countries including a more commercial remix version by Italian remix-producer DJ Gius.

The song, specifically the "Sport Chant Remix", is popular at North American sporting events. It is used by numerous arenas as a celebratory or motivational theme.

Many people believe the band to be named "Kernkraft 400" and the song to be "Zombie Nation". This is most likely[citation needed] due to a combination of factors, including that the song´s only lyrics are "zombie nation", and file sharing, where anyone can change the name of a file and thousands can download it in a short period of time, which became popular soon after the song was released.

In 2008, it emerged that Laidback Luke had done his own remix of this track. It is not known whether there is any intention to officially release this remix, or whether Luke wishes to keep it as a DJ tool for his own sets.

Kavinsky, also known as Vincent Belorgey, is a French electro house artist, and has on the Record Makers label released two EPs: Teddy Boy in 2006 and 1986 a year later. He has been remixed by SebastiAn and others. He toured alongside Daft Punk, The Rapture, Justice, and SebastiAn in 2007. Kavinsky has a son, Surkin also a french electro dj. In addition to his music career he has also appeared in several films including Steak, directed by longtime friend Mr. Oizo. The SebastiAn remix of Testarossa Autodrive off the 1986 EP is featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV.

Kavinsky's production style is very visceral and reminiscent of video game music and film soundtracks of the 1980s.

"Moonlight Shadow" is a pop song written by British multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield and released as a single in May 1983 and included on the album Crises in the same year. The vocals were performed by the Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly, who had joined Mike Oldfield in 1980. It has been his most successful single to date, with Tubular Bells being his most successful album worldwide. It is said that the lyrics were a reference to the death of John Lennon.

Numerous cover versions of "Moonlight Shadow" have been performed over the years, including by The Shadows (a band whom Oldfield was influenced by) on their 1986 album Moonlight Shadows. Notably Oldfield had also covered a Shadows song, "Wonderful Land".

Aly Amr Fathalah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila), the Egyptian duo, were both born in 1981 and have known each other since kindergarten. After falling in love with the music of Paul Van Dyk, Steve Helstrip and Chicane they built their first small studio and started doing electronic music and djing from 1999. Bart Claessen was born in the Netherlands on January 22nd, 1980, always loved music, and got his first piano lessons at the age of seven. Impressed by electronic music at the end of the nineties, he worked hard during high school to buy his first studio equipment: a synth, a sampler, an Atari computer and a small mixer. With this equipment, he changed the attic of his parental house into a small studio and there it all began...

After graduating from high school, he started studying Music Technology at the Utrecht School Of Arts and impressed the dance scene one year later, in 2001, with his first release ever: Barthezz – On The Move.
With top dj support, it started as a massive club anthem in his home country and ended up to be a worldwide singles chart hit, with releases on labels like Positiva (UK), Superstar (Germany), Avex (Japan) and Ultra (US). Berghain is a Berlin nightclub, named after its location on the border between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Philip Sherburne has described it as "quite possibly the current world capital of techno, much as E-Werk or Tresor were in their respective heydays."

The club is located in a former power plant in Friedrichshain, behind the Berlin Ostbahnhof railway station.The building is distinguished by its enormous dimensions, which accommodate an 18 meter high dancefloor and space for 1500 guests, and also its minimalist interior design, dominated by steel and concrete. The club contains a "cavernous" main room, as well as a smaller upstairs space called the Panorama Bar, which is decorated by enormous Wolfgang Tillmans photographs and tall windows with a view of East Berlin.Only half of the building is currently in use.Berghain has a strong reputation for decadence and hedonism; a New Zealand Herald article describes "people openly indulging in sexual acts" inside the club, and the basement contains a dark room specifically set aside for that purpose.Photography is strictly forbidden.The door policy is selective, but there are no VIP entrance, VIP areas or special guest lists. As a special feature no mirrors or reflecting surfaces can be found anywhere in the club. Like many Berlin clubs, Berghain hosts extremely long events; a Philip Sherburne column in Pitchfork describes a Carl Craig set that began at 3:00 Sunday afternoon and continued until the club's ending time.

The music is mostly techno and minimal techno. The Panorama Bar hosts well known house and electro DJs. Nick Höppner, a resident DJ who manages the club's record label, states that "The simple division is that Panoramabar more or less caters to house...and Berghain is really the platform for purist techno."

Gabry Ponte (Gabriele Ponte, born in Turin on April 20, 1973) is an Italian DJ best known for his membership in the Italian dance group Eiffel 65. Ponte has been involved with the Bliss Team, DJ Gundam, and Sangwara. With Eiffel 65's rise to fame in the late 1990s, his celebrity (or semi-celebrity) status was established, and he later went on to produce the Italian hits "Geordie" (a cover of Fabrizio de André's song by the same name) and "La Danza delle Streghe." Also to his credit are a number of remixes of popular dance songs such as Gianni Togni's Giulia. In 2005, Ponte announced he would be separating from Eiffel 65 to pursue solo work. In 2007 he released a brand new EP, "Love Songs in the Digital Age According to Gabry Ponte" which includes the new track "the Point Of No Return".

Gabry Ponte first started his career as a DJ at BlissCorporation in 1993, in late 1995 he started his own record label there known as Worldbus Records. The primary focus of the label was to remake current and past hit songs of other artists into modern dance tracks. Several of the label's artists became some of BlissCorporation's biggest, Full Sex, Karmah, Funktastica, and Sangwara, which Gabry Ponte was directly involved in. After three years Worldbus Records became Piranha Records and Gabry Ponte went on to create a song called "Blue (Da Ba Dee)", at that point a normal BlissCorporation release under the label Skooby Records. The song became a hit in Italy and was the first from BlissCorporation to be released outside of Europe, from there it became a worldwide hit. The trio behind it, dubbed Eiffel 65, then produced an album called "Europop" which too became a large hit. 2 Albums, 10 singles, and 6 years later, Eiffel 65 parted ways and Gabry Ponte stayed with BlissCorporation to continue with his solo work, releasing a number of singles and staying active in Italy's music scene.

Dune was a German Rave/Techno/progressive trance band.

The band formed in 1995 and divided with the departure of Verena von Strenge, their lead singer, in 2000, before they could release their album Reunion (the album was never released due to a court order that stopped the single "Heaven").

The latest single released was "Rainbow To The Stars 2003", which was released on 23 June 2003.

Hardcore Vibes: The very first DUNE single and foundation for all future successes of the Münster-based band. This track was produced in 1994 and coincidentally fell into the hands of Münster producer Bernd Burhoff (Plutone, Raver's nature, Marusha, Andreas Dorau). It was eventually released in 1995 and reached number 5 in the Media Control Charts. It stayed in the charts for 19 weeks and achieved Gold status. They have produced popular remixes of several songs, including "Love is an Angel" by Sylver, "Come With Me" by Special D, and "Ass Up!" by Baracuda.

PPK was a famous Russian trance duo that was based primarily in Rostov-on-Don. The group consisted of Sergei Pimenov and Alexander Polyakov. PPK name is the acronym of founding members' initials, K was for short-time member DJ Kordj (Roman Korzhov).

PPK became popular abroad due to their single "ResuRection", which was available to download for free on mp3.com for about a year. A few million people downloaded it and a such wave of popularity brought to signing a contract with Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label and was used to celebrate the New Year 2003 in Warsaw, Poland (seen on Sky News Active, 2002-12-31).

"ResuRection" was based around the melody of the theme of Latvian electronic rock band Zodiaks to the 1979 Russian (Soviet) film Siberiade by Eduard Artemyev and contained, in some remix versions, vocal samples of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

The group broke up in 2004, however Pimenov did remixes for the group t.A.T.u.'s single "Lyudi Invalidy" under the name PPK.

The popularity of Hans "Long John" Zimmer (all the credits in the CD's liner notes include pirate-themed nicknames, like the roll call in a Simpsons Halloween episode) isn't in doubt--he sure is one in-demand composer--but afficionados are divided about his artistic worth, and this score isn't about to reconcile them. Some think that Zimmer relies too much on his stable of composers and sticks to tried-and-true recipes; others admire his capacity to weave themes in and out of cues, creating a whole made of subtly interrelated parts. At World's End feeds both camps: Seven of his collaborators are credited with writing "additional music," and the album feels by-the-numbers at times; but those inclined to listen very closely will be rewarded by the way Zimmer sneaks in bits of two main melodies (especially variations on the first track, a pirate theme titled "Hoist the Colours" and cowritten by director Gore Verbinski) throughout. Steve Lawler is a British house music producer and DJ born in Birmingham, England. He has held residences at many popular dance clubs such as Space and Twilo. Because of his successful performances at Space in Ibiza, he has been nicknamed "King of Space".Lawler has released several mix albums and is especially well known for his Lights Out series featured on Boxed. He currently runs the record label Viva Music. He also founded the now defunct Harlem Records.

Luigi Celestino Di Agostino, better known as Gigi D'Agostino, (born 17 December 1967) is an Italian DJ, remixer and music producer. In 1986 he started his career as a DJ spinning Italo Disco, and releasing his first mix "Psychodelic".
D'Agostino's first release was "Noise Maker Theme", a double-A sided record with a track by Daniele Gas on the other side, which launched the Noise Maker label, under the direction of Italian house producer Gianfranco Bortolotti. D'Agostino would continue working with Daniele Gas, as well as Mauro Picotto's production team for the following years.
His 1999 single "Bla Bla Bla" became a major European hit. He described this single as "a piece I wrote thinking of all the people who talk and talk without saying anything!"

Sasha began his career playing acid house dance music in the late 1980s, and became a central figure in the development and popularisation of electronic dance music. He partnered with fellow DJ John Digweed in 1993, touring internationally and producing a series of mixes (compilations of other artists work played in a continuous fashion).Through their track selection and mixing techniques, Sasha and Digweed were instrumental in the evolution of progressive trance and house music.

Global Deejays is an Austrian dance and electronica trio composed of DJ Taylor (Konrad Schreyvogl), DJ Mikkel (Mikkel Christensen) and FLOw (Florian Schreyvogl), and Marie Geidel Their first three singles were big hits in Europe, particularly in Russia.

Their song "The Sound of San Francisco" samples the 1967 (The Summer of Love) song "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" sung by Scott McKenzie. The video includes scenes of the band in a decorated school bus driving through popular destinations.

Vincent de Moor (born 1973) is a Dutch trance artist.

Vincent de Moor was born in Delft and first recorded in 1993 as Fix To Fax. Tracks released under this alias include "Enjoy Yourself", "Do U Feel It", "Pick It Up" and "Take Control". Other early releases include "Het Vliegende Kunstgebit" as Gmoork, "Chinese Juice" and "Exotic Mind" as Outline, and "Voice In The Dark", "Frame Of Pleasure" and "Brazilia Carnavelas" as Sidewalk.

His breakthrough track, using his own name, was "Flowtation". The track was first released in 1996 and reached the British charts the following year. It peaked at #54. Several versions of this track are available, including a 2002 remix with vocals.

In 1998, de Moor collaborated with Ernst Bijlsma to release "Don't Hurt Me" (as Cache) and, using his own name, released the track "Orion City" and a debut album of the same name. He also found time to release tracks including "Darwin's Voyage", "Magnetic" and "Domino Runner" using his VdM moniker.

1999 is widely considered to be the year in which trance's popularity peaked, and de Moor was responsible for one of the most prominent tracks from this time. "Carte Blanche" by Veracocha, a collaboration between de Moor and Ferry Corsten, reached #22 in the British charts and remains popular today. Corsten reportedly chose the name Veracocha after watching a TV program about the Incas.

The track featured on de Moor's second album Moor (2000), along with the singles "Shamu", "Between 2 Fires" and "Eternity (Forever)". 2000 also saw the first release of "Fly Away", which went on to become de Moor's most successful debut single when it reached #30 in 2001. Some issues of this track were released under the pseudonym Emerald.

In 2003, de Moor released the tracks "Crystal Clouds" and "Nexus" as Questia. The following year, he released "Desdemonia" as Raster and "Grooveslide" and "Energy Reflect" as Flashbang.

Vincent de Moor is also known for his remixes, most notably of Tenth Planet's "Ghosts", De Bos's "On The Run", Armin van Buuren's "Communication" and Ayumi Hamasaki's "Fly High".

Ville Virtanen (born July 17, 1975), better known by his stage name Darude is a Trance music producer and DJ from Eura, Hinnerjoki, Finland. Debuting in 1999 with the smash single "Sandstorm" and subsequent album Before the Storm, Darude is known worldwide for his progressive/uplifting style.

Virtanen started his career as an amateur musician while in high school, making music using his PC's tracker software. As his interest in music production rapidly grew (and his grades correspondingly dropped), he moved on to more serious production techniques.

While at a classmate's party, Virtanen played the song "Rude Boy" (written by Swedish artist Leila K) four times. This earned him the nickname "Rude Boy", which gradually morphed into "Da Rude", which in turn inspired the name "Darude".

Virtanen continued producing music while in technical school, occasionally releasing demos to radio stations beginning in 1997, and offering his music for download on MP3.com. In 1999, he gave a demo for "Sandstorm" to his producer, JS16 (Jaakko Salovaara). Virtanen signed on with JS16's 16 Inch Records label, and shortly thereafter, "Sandstorm" was released as a single.

Ministry of Sound (MoS) is a nightclub in Elephant and Castle, Southwark, South London. Officially opened in 1992 after weeks of 'secret' club nights, the Ministry had already been packed out through word-of-mouth. Ministry of Sound was one of the key locations in the development of house music and superclubs in Britain in the early 1990s. Ministry of Sound initially set itself apart from other London nightclubs of the time with its location well away from London clubland, a non-alcoholic bar and a highly-acclaimed sound system; all features designed to attract an enthusiastic crowd of music lovers. DJs mix live sets on Friday and Saturday each week. The MoS boasts two spacious dance floors as well as a Sony PlayStation room and Absolut chill bar.

Ministry of Sound was founded by James Palumbo, Humphrey Waterhouse and DJ Justin Berkmann. It is still largely owned and controlled by Jamie Palumbo, son of property developer Peter, Lord Palumbo. Since the club's opening, the MoS brand has been extended to a number of other areas. Profits from the brand put Palumbo on the Sunday Times Rich List 2004, with an estimated worth of £ 136 m. The club opened in the Autumn of 1991.

In recent times, the Ministry of Sound brand has expanded with franchise clubs being opened in Asia, and club tours taking place worldwide. Ministry of Sound Taipei (No. 310, LenQun 3rd. Rd., Taipei, Taiwan) opened March 25, 2004 and Ministry of Sound Singapore (Block C The Cannery, River Valley Rd, Clarke Quay, Singapore 179022) opened December 16, 2005. The former Ministry of Sound Bangkok nightclub (Sukhumvit Soi 11, Bangkok, Thailand) (2002–03), the first club outside the UK, is now closed. Ministry of Sound parties are often held in various locations around the globe. Ministry of Sound New Delhi (India) opened on 27 April, 2007 and is located at C Block Vasant Kunj (The MoS in New Delhi has been sealed & closed indefinitely by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation as it was located in a residential Area, It will open soon at the same location.). Marco V, born Marco Verkuylen, is a modern Dutch DJ. He currently ranks as number 16 on the 2006 DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs List.

Generally considered a tech trance DJ, Marco V was the resident DJ of the "danssalon" in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. After several years of residency, he began to focus on production. Headlining Innercity in Amsterdam 2000 and mixing the Innercity CD of that year was his first breakthrough.

In 2005 he released the critically acclaimed follow-up to his debut "con:fusion" . "200V" (V also to be read as the Roman 5) is a record for every mood.

Marco V is currently working on the follow up of Benjamin Bates' debut album (N.E.V.E.R.L.E.T.A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.K.I.L.L.T.H.E.P.L.E.A.S.U.R.E.) which (title: RECYCLOMANIA)was released on May 14, 2007. His Combi:nations III was released on May 22nd and he is currently working on his own new album.

Electric Cafe is a music album by the group Kraftwerk. It is mildly infamous for taking the band almost half a decade to produce: work is said to have begun on the album as early as 1982 (with the working titles of Technicolor and then Techno Pop), but the project was delayed due to band member Ralf Hütter suffering a near-fatal cycling accident, and then due to concerns within the band that the production quality of the album was not sufficiently cutting-edge, necessitating much re-work. The album, mastered by Bob Ludwig, finally saw release in 1986.

The album was initially released in English, German and Spanish language versions. It was the first Kraftwerk LP to be created using predominantly digital equipment. The song named "Der Telefonanruf" ("The Telephone Call") was the first and only Kraftwerk song to feature Karl Bartos on lead vocals.

Audiences generally appeared to find the music somewhat more sterile and less engaging than that of its conceptually more cohesive predecessor, Computer World. Compared to the band's four preceding albums, some critics have pointed to the lack of a strong and sufficiently intriguing theme to tie the Electric Café material together. Furthermore the near half-decade hiatus in the band's record releases and performance activity lost them crucial momentum in their career. Whatever the possible influence of these factors, Electric Café did not meet with any great commercial success.

Two singles were released from the album, "Musique Non-Stop" and "The Telephone Call". Both were accompanied by promotional videos. "Musique Non-Stop" showcased a computer animated representation of the band. The animation, which was complex for its time, was created by Rebecca Allen, using state-of-the-art facial animation software developed by the Institute of Technology in New York. Though both singles went on Billboard dance chart in 1987, neither of the singles performed well in the charts. However, "Musique Non-Stop" has been the closing piece of Kraftwerk's concerts ever since.

In the proposed remastered album collection The Catalogue, the Electric Cafe album has been renamed Techno Pop.

Azzido Da Bass (born Ingo Martens in 1971 is a DJ and music producer based in Hamburg, Germany.

Over the years, Ingo Martens has been influenced by a wide range of music genres. As a youth, Ingo first became interested in hip-hop and break dance. By the mid-1980s, Ingo began collecting electronica and synth pop albums from the groups such as Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and Nitzer Ebb. A few years later, it was acid house and hardcore groups.

In the early 1990s, a friend by the name of Carl Cox gave Ingo a cassette tape of various remixes. The music had a substantial impact of Ingo's view on music, paving the way for his future career.

Further inspired by the performances of local and international DJs on tour, Ingo Martens began his own DJ career in 1996 under the name Azzido Da Bass. One year later he would secure his first professional job in Hamburg, Germany. The performance was a success, opening the door to additional jobs in northern Germany performing in clubs, competitive events and private parties.

Within four years, Ingo Martens was a significant player within the German techno music scene, with tours both domestically and internationally.

Ingo Martens aspired to create his own original music after several years as a DJ. After meeting producer/songwriter Stevo Wilcken in 1998, Ingo Martens eventually made the transition to producer. The duo co-wrote their first original song, Dooms Night, which was released in 2000 at the Love Parade in Berlin.

Although the song did well in Germany, it languished on British charts until a remix of the song was released by two English DJs. The remix's popularity catapulted the song to a 8 position on British charts.

Soon after, the song made major appearances around the world, including a headline of the MTV Music Awards in 2000, several American and European commercials, and in the movie soundtrack to "Angeled".

Ingo Martens and Stevo Wilcken continued to produce a mixture of original songs and remixes thereafter, including a remix of the song House of God by D.H.S. and their next hit Speed (Can You Feel It?) in 2002.

In 2005, Ingo Martens founded the independent music label Luscious Sound. His goal was to allow music artists to create their material with a minimal amount of interference from above. This goal was in part due to Ingo's view that music has become generic and without quality.

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) is an electronic dance music showcase held in Detroit each Memorial Day weekend since 2000. In subsequent years, the similarly themed festivals Movement (2003–2004), Fuse-In (2005) and currently, Movement: Detroit's Electronic Music Festival (2006-2007) continued the DEMF's traditions, with each name change reflecting shifts in festival management. All of these festivals featured performances by musicians and DJs, and emphasized the progressive qualities of the culture surrounding electronic music.

The first Detroit Electronic Music Festival was held in 2000, established by Carol Marvin and her company Pop Culture Media. Marvin had previously been a sponsorship organizer for the Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival and Detroit-Montreux Jazz Festival, and was a producer of the 1993 Michigan State Fair.

The DEMF was intended to give Detroit and its overlooked history of electronic music major exposure both locally and nationally. Carl Craig, hired by Carol Marvin to act as "Artistic Director", booked a diverse range of the talent, from big internationally recognized names to lesser-known local talent. Patterned on high-profile dance music festivals in Europe, the DEMF had free admission and attracted many international attendees.

Each festival has been held at Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit, and has been sanctioned and financially supported by the City of Detroit. The city's support for the festival has been seen by many as the first high-profile acknowledgement and celebration of the city as the birthplace of techno music.

Underground Resistance (commonly abbreviated to UR) are a musical collective from Detroit, Michigan, in the United States of America. They are the most militantly political example of modern Detroit Techno, with a grungy, four-track musical aesthetic and a strictly anti-mainstream business strategy. Trading mainstream popularity and financial success for independence and self-determination, for a long time, the members would refuse to be photographed without bandanas obscuring their identities. They espouse a radical, militaristic ethos similar to Public Enemy and have exerted their portion of Detroit Techno's cultural influence towards promoting political activism.

Begun in the late 1980's by Jeff Mills and "Mad" Mike Banks, UR related the aesthetics of early Detroit Techno to the complex social, political, and economic circumstances which followed on from Reagan-era inner-city economic recession, producing uncompromising music geared toward promoting awareness and facilitating political change. Later Robert "Noise" Hood joined the collective.

The early UR catalogue is defined by a typically Detroit combination of Motown and Chicago soul, and ruthless, at times caustic lo-fi Techno, Acid, and Electro (Mills's background is in, among other things, Chicago Industrial and EBM-style Electro-Techno, with Banks and Hood both coming from a solid House and Techno background).

Many of Underground Resistance's labelmate's early releases were the product of various experiments by Banks, Mills, and Hood, both solo and in collaboration, before Mills and Hood left the collective in 1992 to achieve international success as solo artists and DJs. Mike Banks continued to lead UR in the wake of the split, releasing EPs during the mid-1990's such as "Return of Acid Rain", "Message to the Majors", and "Galaxy to Galaxy" under the UR name, as well as 12-inches by increasingly renowned artists such as Drexciya.

Although UR remains largely aloof of the more high-profile American and European scenes, UR tracks have occasionally been released on other labels (usually in what UR metaphorically describe as "reconnaissance" or "infiltration"). The prominent German Techno label Tresor reissued 12-inches from the early UR catalog and a React label compilation featured exclusive tracks from Banks and other UR artists.

The first full-length album credited to Underground Resistance was 1998's "Interstellar Fugitives", which saw Mike Banks redefining the collective's sound as "High-Tech Funk", reflecting a shift in emphasis from hard, minimal club Techno to breakbeats, Electro and even occasionally Drum and Bass and down-tempo Hip-Hop. In 1999, newcomer DJ Rolando released UR's most commercially successful EP, "The Knights of The Jaguar".

In 2002, Kraftwerk released a remix EP of their soundtrack to the Hannover Expo 2000, featuring contributions from Rolando and Banks, making them two of only a handful of producers ever to be given the privilege of remixing Kraftwerk. From 2002 Kraftwerk's live shows featured the group performing UR's remixes compiled in the song now called "Planet of Visions".

Paul Oakenfold (born August 30, 1963 in Greenhithe, England) is a record producer and one of the best-known, and most expensive Trance DJs worldwide.

In 1987, Oakenfold and his friends, Trevor Fung and Ian St. Paul, spent several months in Ibiza, Spain, where they fell in love with the dance club music (see 1987 in music). Using influences from Ibiza's sound, Italo disco, soul and house, Oakenfold produced Happy Mondays' Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches, followed by productions of remixes for U2, Massive Attack, Arrested Development, The Cure, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Simply Red, New Order, The Doors, and The Shamen with production partner Steve Osborne under the collaborative name 'Perfecto'. Many of these remixes were released under his label Perfecto Records.

In addition to producing records, Oakenfold also mixes them. He first started playing in clubs as a teenager and soon built up a reputation as a top party DJ. However, it wasn't until the early 1990s when his name was associated with the DJ elite. The reason for this rise in public admiration was his adoption of a new breed of dance music called Trance, something he discovered on the hippy beaches of Goa in India and fused with similar sounding European records to create his own distinct sound. He took this to the mainstream when in 1994 he created a two-hour set for BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix. This set became known as the Goa Mix and to this day is the most requested broadcast on the BBC radio network.

In 1996, Oakenfold mixed one disc of the double album Fantazia House Collection 6, a UK House music compilation series that had been massively successful at the time. He brought his distinctive style to the mix.

After a short spell as a member of the band Grace, Oakenfold became Cream's resident DJ from 1997 to 1999. During this time, he began to concentrate on building an American audience, which led to the US release of Tranceport in 1998. The album was well received by American trance music fans, and even garnered him modest acceptance in the mainstream American music scene. Oakenfold followed Tranceport with arguably his most successful album Perfecto Presents Another World which introduced millions to his mixing skills. His popularity across the Atlantic is slowly growing thanks to his work on the film soundtracks of Swordfish, The Matrix Reloaded, Collateral, Die Another Day, for which he remixed The James Bond Theme. He later worked on the James Bond video game, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, contributed to the soundtrack of the Japanese anime film "Appleseed" in 2004 and provided the theme song for the FIFA series of video games since 2005. He also contributes music to Konami's Dance Dance Revolution series of video games, particularly the versions for Microsoft's Xbox console.

In 2002, Q magazine named Oakenfold in their list of the "50 Bands To See Before You Die".

In the same year, Oakenfold released his first solo album, called Bunkka featuring artists like Nelly Furtado, Tricky ("The Harder They Come"), the world-renowned Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ("Zoo York"), Ice Cube ("Get Em Up"), and Shifty Shellshock, then the lead singer of Crazy Town ("Starry Eyed Surprise"). His latest effort is 2006's A Lively Mind.

In 2004, Oakenfold's song "Ready Steady Go" was reproduced with some Korean lyrics for the movie Collateral, and was included in the film soundtrack. "Ready Steady Go" was also used in Saab commercials, the EA Sports game Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003, the pilot for the television program Las Vegas, the film The Bourne Identity (during a car chase scene), NASCAR theme song for 2006, and the Alias episode "Snowman". In an earlier episode, The Imposter, of Radio Free Roscoe, a 2005 series on The-N, a character Travis Strong DJed to the song (obviously acting as if it were his own). It has more recently been used in the film adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's novel Stormbreaker.

'A Lively Mind' was released on June 6, 2006. The first single 'Faster Kill Pussycat' is a collaboration with the actress Brittany Murphy, and was released on May 2, 2006. Oakenfold's 2006 CD was released by Maverick Records.

Also, in 2006, to accompany the new Transformers: Cybertron film, Paul remixed the Transformers theme.

Oakenfold is a big fan of Chelsea F.C., but also likes Fulham F.C..

His name is also associated with a song called "see it", featured in the second stage of "Frequency", a game for the PS2. The game was released November 20, 2001, though the song itself is very inconspicuous and is rarely, if at all, mentioned of; it also does not seem to be on any of his albums.

Tomcraft (real name Thomas Brückner) is a German DJ and producer. He is specialized in progressive house and progressive trance and is better known for having created the tracks "Loneliness" and "Prosac", working alongside Eniac.

Tomcraft began working as a DJ in Munich in 1994, shifting between techno and the emerging progressive trance style. The following year, he released his first track, "This Is No House". He first met in Eniac in 1996, and the two immediately started producing music together, beginning with "Viva". The same year yielded the track "Prosac", but this did not achieve success until it was re-released in 2001.

2002 was also the year Tomcraft released "Loneliness", a progressive vocal track that eventually reached in the UK . The financial success allowed him to found his own record label, Great Stuff Recordings, followed up in 2005 with Craft Music.

His song "Overdose" was featured in the 2003 movie Party Monster for its parallel theme of drug use to the Club Kids of New York City.

Tomcraft has released three albums so far, All I Got (2001), MUC (2003) and Hyper Sexy Conscious (2006), all on Kosmo Records.

Audio mixing is used for sound recording, audio editing and sound systems to balance the relative volume, frequency and dynamical content of a number of sound sources. Typically, these sound sources are the different musical instruments in a band or vocalists, the sections of an orchestra, announcers and journalists, crowd noises and so on.

Sometimes audio mixing is done live by a sound engineer or recording engineer, for example at rock concerts and other musical performances where a public address system is used. A typical concert has two mixers, one located in the audience to mix the front of house speakers heard by the audience, and the other is located at the side of the stage, mixing for the monitor speakers positioned directly in front of the performers so that they can hear one another.

Another example of live mixing is a DJ mixing two records together. Break beats are created by mixing between identical breaks. Often the end of one pre-recorded song is mixed into another so that the transition is seamless, which is done through beat-matching or beat-mixing, and possibly pitch control.

At other times, audio mixing is done in studios as part of multitrack recording in order to produce digital or analog audio recordings, or as part of an album, film or television program.

An audio mixing console, or mixing desk, or mixing board, has numerous rotating controls (potentiometers) and sliding controls (faders which are also potentiometers) that are used to manipulate the volume, the addition of effects such as reverb, and frequency content (equalization) of audio signals. On most consoles, all the controls that apply to a single channel of audio are arranged in a vertical column called a channel strip. Larger and more complex consoles such as those used in film and television production can contain hundreds of channel strips. Many consoles today, regardless of cost, have automation capabilities so the movement of their controls is performed automatically, not unlike a player piano. A recent trend is to use a "control surface" connected to a computer. This eliminates much of the electronics in a conventional console as the actual mixing work is done digitally by the computer.

Audio mixing on a personal computer is also gaining momentum. More and more independent artists are starting to use their personal computers for digital recording and mixing their work. Audio editing on the computer is also easy and generally preferred.

A recent trend is mixing to 5.1, which is "surround" audio. This requires 6 channels of audio: left, center, right, left rear, right rear, and low frequencies (subwoofer, or LFE). The demand for 5.1 in the audio and music domain was once small but has recently increased dramatically, along with the introduction of 7.1 & 9.1 surround channel audio.

Ali Movasat, more commonly known as DJ Aligator was born in Tehran, Iran on March 10, 1975. He currently resides in Sweden after having lived in Denmark for many years.

He is responsible for songs such as "The Whistle Song" (co-made with Danish producer Holger Lagerfeldt), which can be found on the popular videogame Dance Dance Revolution or the song Fly High. Dj Aligator has also remixed the popular song Dragostea Din Tei by the band O-Zone as well as Reel 2 Real's I Like to Move It and Infernal's "From Paris to Berlin".

Biographical information

In particular, he remembers how much he loved all the gatherings and parties his parents arranged quite often at their house. Relatives, friends, and neighbors would come together to mingle, sing, and dance to the music of a hired live band. While other kids of his age fooled around the house, chasing one another, and wrestling, Ali would rather stand next to the guy playing the keyboard, fixing his eyes on the black and white keys which made all those pretty sounds. The love for music began to develop and grow inside young Ali rapidly. His obsessive passion for music however did not go unnoticed by his father. Ali got a toy keyboard for his tenth birthday. Ali Movasat is muslim.

Studies in music

While devoting as much spare time as possible to playing the keyboard Ali embarked on his preliminary education in music by attending introductory courses in jazz and classical. This helped him tremendously in gaining a deeper understanding of music in general as well as learning how to play his instrument by the notes.

Upon graduating from high school, Ali did not hesitate to enter the Rhythmic program at the Danish Music Conservatory. This would give him the opportunity to push his comprehension of music even further, building up and laying down the theoretical foundations for a future career as a professional musician.

The first mixer… While attending school eagerly Ali began to plan his next move. Being fully aware of the fact that although what he was learning in school was quite beneficial, in order for him to accelerate on his path to success he had to furnish his education with a more hands-on experience. The simple keyboard he owned wouldn’t suffice.

Therefore he went ahead and took a loan in order to purchase his first mixer and a few other devices. However, the expensive loan had to be settled soon. In effect, this meant that he had to work multiple evening jobs right after school to make the payments. One job in particular turned out to be just right for Ali. A local nightclub was on the lookout for a new DJ. He auditioned for the job and was hired.

180 CDs

With strong faith in his new creation Ali set about paying almost every record company in Denmark a visit, presenting his Whistle Song. Unfortunately none of the directors in suit and tie recognized the potential success of the piece. Disappointed but not surrendered he returned to his studio. He had a plan.

He burned over 180 copies of the Whistle Song on CDs and shipped them out to every single DJ he knew in Denmark, asking them to play it for their audience. It worked. People loved it. Gradually the song became quite popular.

A Technoparade (the word is German) is a parade of vehicles equipped with strong loudspeakers and amplifiers, along the streets of a municipality, which are closed down for this purpose.

It resembles a carnival parade, but the vehicles are less elaborately decorated and the music -- usually, but not always, techno -- comes from a DJ's sound systems. Also, a technoparade doesn't share the carnival parade tradition of bombarding the spectators with sweets. However, the revellers do occasionally throw confetti (usually larger and more sparkly than that in a carnival parade) and spray foam from the vehicles onto the crowd.

Nearly all of the vehicles are converted trucks. In order to power the amplifiers, the trucks are frequently equipped with an additional electrical generator. The theoretical possibility of using overhead tram wires in some cities has never been put into practice: as a rule such overhead current-delivery systems are switched off during the gathering for safety reasons. Likewise for safety reasons, horse-drawn floats are never used in technoparades: there would be a danger of horses panicking from the noise and chaos. However, there are occasional human-drawn floats equipped with generators, record players, amplifiers and loudspeakers. Some of the vehicles allow people to ride along, for a fee. For those on the sidelines, or travelling alongside on foot or bicycles, attendance is free.
