Steve Lawler is a British house music producer and DJ born in Birmingham, England. He has held residences at many popular dance clubs such as Space and Twilo. Because of his successful performances at Space in Ibiza, he has been nicknamed "King of Space".Lawler has released several mix albums and is especially well known for his Lights Out series featured on Boxed. He currently runs the record label Viva Music. He also founded the now defunct Harlem Records.
Lawler describes his style of house music to be "filthy" and "sleazy".Others have echoed his sentiments, comparing Lawler's music to disco in terms of attitude.Though he's often named a progressive house DJ, Lawler says that he prefers not to fall under any particular genre. Lawler's music often has elements of 1980s electro music and electroclash, but Lawler maintains that he is against the 1980s electro revival, describing it as "shit in the first place".Of the music Lawler plays, he is known to perform his own edited versions.

Uroš Umek (born 1976 in Ljubljana, Slovenia), better known as DJ Umek, is a Slovenian techno-music composer and DJ. He is perhaps the most famous Slovenian techno artist. Most of his early tracks were named after medicines or other substances. Umek is one of the most instantly recognizable names in electronic music. After countless EPs, a large number of anthems and a reputation as an innovator, he has risen to the top of the Techno pile and is considered by most as a techno legend. Recently he has shifted his style into more electro house style which has open the doors for him to reach the wider audience. In 2006 he released a single "Posing as me" which was a big hit in Slovenia and in 2007 another video supported project with a Croatian singer and lyrics writer Andja Carbon Occasions.
Dark house is the name used by some people to describe certain progressive house records that are characterised by deep penetrating lowtempo beats (~130 BPM) and the use of words and sounds that create a foreboding atmosphere.
Dark-house is usually tribal but minimalistic. It often features echoed trance-like claps (as opposed to progressive house snare drums), and low pitched, driving basslines. The mood is almost always melancholic and somewhat dreamy. At more intense levels, dark house may contain screeching, moaning, or electronic pulses to emulate sounds found in horror movies. Where Detroit techno features raw basses usually looped between four beats, dark house usually has intricate basslines with a possible pitch change looped over eight or more beats.
